to apply for the position of Occupational Health and Safety Officer.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 3 years working experience OR
b) Diploma in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years working experience
c) Professional certification from a recognized body (NEBOSH, IOSH, or
d) NITA/DOSHS-accredited OHS training).
e) Practical knowledge of OSHA 2007, EMCA regulations, and water/sanitation sector safety standards.
f) Strong skills in accident investigation and reporting, risk assessment, and safety training.
g) Proficiency in computer applications.

Key Responsibilities
a) Implement and monitor occupational health and safety systems across all utility operations, including water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, fecal sludge treatment facilities, and field desludging activities.
b) Conduct routine hazard identification and risk assessments in accordance with OSHA 2007, WIBA, and related subsidiary legislation.
c) Ensure compliance with EMCA (1999), NEMA regulations, WASREB guidelines, and County sanitation bylaws.
d) Develop and review OHS policies, SOPs, emergency response plans, permits-to-work, and confined- space entry procedures.
e) Conduct staff and contractor training on workplace safety, chemical handling, biological hazard prevention, and safe FST operations.
f) Lead investigation and reporting of incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses while maintaining statutory records.
g) Coordinate workplace registration, audits, and inspections with the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS).
h) Oversee PPE standards, hygiene facilities, and safe use of machinery and equipment.
i) Support safe handling, transport, and reuse of treated sludge products in compliance with NEMA and County requirements
